Whether you are a first-time homeowner, or someone who has maintained their own home for many years, meeting with a painting contractor can feel overwhelming. Following these seven steps can help make your meeting more productive:
Do your research. Get recommendations from people you trust. If your family or friends had good results from a local painting contractor, ask for their contact information. (We hope they recommend us!)
Determine your overall budget. The old adage “you get what you pay for” applies to materials as well as labor. You can always find someone who will give you a cheap price. Here at Cloudland Paintworks you will have peace of mind knowing that our painting professionals are fully-insured. We will provide you with a quality paint job at a fair price.
Prioritize your list. If your budget doesn’t allow you to complete all your projects now, it’s important to communicate that to us so that we know which projects are most important to you.
Be realistic about the timeframe. You may be anxious to have the work done right away, but there are times when we may be scheduling jobs one to two months out. This may determine whether you are able to do an exterior paint job now, or whether the weather will make it more feasible to tackle the interior first.
Be flexible if possible. If you have a small project, ask about our “paint crew for a day” service. Services like this allow us to contact you on “short notice” to do a quick interior project on a rainy day when we can’t work outside, or when we have a break between two larger jobs.
Be open to suggestions. You may have your heart set on using a particular brand of paint. This can be helpful, but don’t dismiss our suggestions for a different product until you hear why we recommend it. As new products come on the market, we do our own research to determine whether it may be the right product for you.
Know what to expect. We will always provide you with a written estimate that outlines the scope of the work to be done. We will also let you know when the deposit is due, and when we need additional payments and what methods of payment we accept.
Following these steps will help ensure that your project, and any future projects, will be done to your satisfaction.
